EAC Regulations for Compiling Harmonised Consumer Price Indices (HCPI)

Abstract

The East African Community (EAC) Secretariat, in conjunction with the Monetary Affairs Committee (MAC), and the Sectoral Committee on Statistics identified Harmonisation of the Consumer Price Indices (HCPI), as one of the prerequisites necessary for the pursuit of sound macroeconomic policies and transition to the East African Monetary Union (EAMU). The objective of these regulations is therefore, to develop Harmonised Consumer Price Indices (HCPIs) for the EAC Partner States.
