dc.description.abstract | The LVEMP is a comprehensive environmental regional program which aims at rehabilitating Lake Victoria
and its catchment for the benefit of the people who live in the catchment as well as the global community.
The Project was initiated by the riparian countries of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya in 1992.
On 5 August, 1994, they signed a Tripartite Agreement, which paved the way for the preparation and
eventual implementation of an environmental program to cover the whole of the Lake Victoria Basin, with a
Credit from IDA and a grant from GEF totaling US$70m. | en_US |
